Hello, I'm Jill. This site is primarily a way for me to organize my notes, identifications, and musings about plants. It is also my hiking journal, and I'll post reports of my hikes, thoughts about the routes, and other random things. Finally, it's about my other outdoor adventures, camping, bushcraft, and survival.

Most of the time, I'm adventuring with my two boys and my husband. So this is also about enjoying the outdoors with kids in tow.

I'm completely obsessed with plants, plant identification, native and non-natives, photography, foraging, and other uses for the flora we find around us.
This section details identification and uses for specific plant groups. My IDs are focused on separating native plants (which I don't want to disturb) from non-natives (which I don't have a problem using for food or other experiments.

A section dedicated to higher level plant groupings - a top down (Kingdom to phylum and on) sort of view rather than the bottom up view in the Plant Profiles section. This section is a record of my overall learning of plants and groups.

This is my adventure journal. Find out about my hikes, camps, family adventures, bushcraft projects, and 'survival' trips. Full disclosure, I'm a novice. I've been a hiker for ages, but the bushcraft and survival skills are all new.
